The Deltran Battery Tender Plus is a 1.25 amp battery charger designed to fully charge a battery and maintain it at proper storage voltage without the damaging effects caused by trickle chargers. Included is a quick connect harness for hard to reach areas. Battery Tender Plus's new BTP microchip technology applies the correct peak charge, then automatically maintains the battery at the perfect float voltage which virtually eliminates battery destroying sulfation. What does all this technology mean for you? A battery that is ready to go when you are! BTP microchip technology will extend the life of your battery. The new Battery Tender Plus will correctly charge and maintain any type of lead acid battery - AGM (absorbed glass mat) or sealed calcium batteries.

Best battery tender you can get!

This is the 3rd Delron Battery Tender Plus I own, It will never over charge a battery and keeps a battery in a fully charged state so they will last a long time, I have a 10 year old battery in one of my bikes and I'm sure the only reason it is still good is because of the Delron unit.

Another 5-Star Review For This Incredible Charger !!!

My wife and I love our Deltran SuperSmart Battery Tender Plus !!! Our Harley Sportster loses its charge when we don't ride it for a week or two. I used to have to open the trunk of my car, take out the emergency battery "jumper" - pull off the side cover to access the battery, connect the two alligator clips and start up our bike that way. Not a big deal, but now, with this cool charger, we just unplug the Battery Tender cable, hit the "start" button and it fires right up. This charger does exactly what it says; brings the battery up to full charge, and the lights change from red to green. Then the charger just "floats" and maintains the battery's proper voltage and charge. The first time we used it, we hadn't started our Harley for almost a month. We hooked up the charger the afternoon we received it and saw the red light glowing showing it was charging. The next morning, the solid green light showed us that we had a full charge just overnight (only about 10 or 12 hours). It is an excellent product - I don't know why this charger isn't included with every motorcycle sold as "standard equipment." And with a 10-Year Warranty, you can't go wrong!!! Excellent product!!! Highly recommended for anyone with a motorcycle or other vehicle that is not driven on a daily basis and wants to keep their battery at its best for as long as possible!

Battery Tender is easy to use and works great. It is well worth the amount of money they are charging. I have used it to charge my motorcycle battery and my car battery. I would recommend it.

Very good product for the price

This is my second battery tender. I have had my other one for two years now and it works great. I have used it to maintain my motorcycle and lawn mower batteries during the winter and I have also used it to bring back batteries that I thought were no longer usable. I think it's a great product for the price.

Excellent!

I bought this tender to charge my 2005 Yamaha R6 (motorcycle) for the winter months. I've had it hooked up for about 2 weeks now and it works great. The light up LEDs tell you what state your battery is in and holds a constant charge to it. I'd recommened this to all motorcycle people out there, since batteries aren't cheap!

Works just like it states. I'm very happy with this product.

I have been using it for about a month and it works great. I would recommend this product to who ever has a motorcycle battery they want to keep charged during the winter.

Works Great on 2003 Z06 Corvette

Keeps the battery fully charged. The Battery Tender has colored coded lights that let you know if it is in charging mode or in maintaining mode. Was reluctant to go with the Junior Model at first but it handles the Corvette battery without any problems. Added the cigarette lighter adapter and 25 foot cable extension.

Cheap and Very Useful

The device is very good for notebooks and other small divices. For me, I am using for buffering(waxing the car) and it is working super. It is totally worth it.

Solid product, good performance

This inverter worked very well for an 11 hour journey while powering a laptop for music enjoyment. The fan in the unit was a little loud, but it was drowned out by the music of course. I would recommend this product to others.

no more buying car chargers for cell phones

in our family, everyone has a different style cell phone, so every two years when we got new phones, it meant buying a new car charger for each phone... well, no more! we decided to just buy an inverter for each car, and that way we can just plug in the charger that is included with each phone, we'll never buy another cell phone car charger again!! and we'll be all set to plug in laptops and digital camera batteries also when we go on trips! great little item, no dangling wires, only drawback is the fan noise, which is easily overcome by radio/cd playing in the car.

No complaints here!

I received this about a month ago, and it has been a life saver. I have chronic pain in my back, and car rides are awful for me. This last weekend I went to Kansas City, MO (from South Dakota) and had very little trouble on the car ride. I know it is because I was able to use my heating pad in the car! I love this produce and would recommend it to anyone.

Extends battery life

I have a 6 yr old battery in a motorcycle I am convinced that the use of a battery tender has contributed to this. Now that we have 2 bikes I have purchased the 2-bank system

Does the job.

Ordered to keep the battery's on my two Harleys up to charge between riding. Easy to mount to wall, came with two harnesses, one for each battery, and two sets of clips for temporary hook up. Once all is installed, easy enough, just plug in and let it do the work. Went to charge cycle for the first 6 hours or so, then maintain. Works well. Harley dealer wanted $75 for a single unit, same manufacturer, this is a better deal.

Great product

If you have trailer batteries or a battery for a vehicle you don't use much - this is the best thing to get. You can just leave it plugged in and not worry about it and your battery will be perfect when you need it. Best product out there for that purpose.

Beware of the 60 +/-4 Hz frequency specification

Several of the Xantrex inverters including this one have much looser frequency specs compared to the last generation of inverters which were typically 60 Hz +/- 0.01%. Many of the current crop of these inverters have 60 +/-4 Hz which is 60 Hz +/- 7%. To be fair, I've noticed a number of inverters made by other companies also have relaxed this spec. I measured the output frequency of several models and found their outputs to range from 58 Hz to 64 Hz. I didn't test to see if the frequency changed with temperature, input voltage, load, or other other factors. I suppose the reason for this change in specs is that these manufacturers are now cost cutting to the extent of eliminating a 30 cent quartz crystal. The frequency variation is most likely to cause problems (speed changes and overheating) in devices with AC motors, but it will also cause inaccuracies in devices that use the AC line frequency for timing purposes.

Like screaming kids

Purchased unit with intend of running a portable DVD player for the kids, and a peaceful trip for me. Instead I got the opposite, as soon as I plugged the unit into Power Port I blew two 20 AMP fuses (on 2004 F-150) so I did the dumbest thing I wired it to the battery and short the battery out. So I'm out a battery and inverter at this point. Take my warning DO NOT BUY this piece of junk, you'll feel better giving a homeless person $32.19 instead of dealing with disappointed kids.

Questions & Answers
Question : Prices for solar 6020 car battery chargers?
Chargers to charge the battery in your car you can use it to jump start the battery to start your car?

Answer:
I hope "solar" is a brand name, not a solar battery charger because there is no way in Hell you can jump start a car with a solar power charger unless it is the size of a football field (and sunny out) Average price of a good one is around $150.

Question : is a insulated battery cable necessary to charge a (car) battery?
In the instructions for my (car) battery charger it says "attach a 24-inch long insulated battery cable to NEGATIVE battery post" and then connect to charger's negative cable to the the cable mentioned above. Do I really need the 24-inch cable or can I just connect the charger's negative cable to the battery's negative post? Thanks! Thanks for your answers.

Answer:
Any cable connected to the car (positive) must be insulated to avoid short circuits. When charging a battery, hydrogen gas is released which is highly flammable. Caution must be used whenever battery hook-ups occur.

Question : Can you build your own uninterruptible power supply with a car battery, an inverter, and a battery charger?
The point is to create a UPS with a very long run time when the main power goes out. Can you hook the charger to the car battery terminals and then attach an inverter to the same terminals (in parallel they call it?). You then plug your computer or whatever to the inverter. The whole setup would have to automatic. For instance, the charger can sense when the battery is fully charged and turn itself off automatically. With the setup, you shouldn't have to plug or unplug things manually based on what you're doing. It should be automatic, transparent, and operate in the background like any UPS. Is this at all possible, or is it much more complex to get something like this working? Is this a fire or electrocution hazard? Will the equipment burn out the moment you hook everything together?

Answer:
A battery charger that will do what you want will cost a very pretty penny. I would stick with the toys that are made to do that. And I agree with the posting above. A car battery has thin lead plates and would not hold up very long at all to the task. Read this link, it will tell you how to do it just don't put the solar panels or charge controller on it. It is all in the Inverter. http://www.oynot.com/solar-power.html Buy this kind of batteries Deep Cycle. http://store.oynot.com/concorde-sun-xtender-batteries.html Get one of these types of inverters because most modified sine wave inverters are cheapies and will not allow a power strip or a desktop computer because they use a neutral ground. This makes the inverter switch off till the ground is removed. These work great. And they are true sine wave like normal house electric. Modified sine wave inverters will make motors hammer and shorten their lifes. Some make radios and TV sets buzz. I said some not all. There are some high grade modified sinewave inverters but if paying that much money may as well get a good one with a built in battery charger. http://store.oynot.com/statpower-prosine.html But it is going to cost a little cash. I have a backup electric system setup but it is solar powered.

Question : How Does A "Manual" Car Battery Charger Work?
I keep forgetting my lights on, my battery dies, have to find someone to boost me or use my AMA. I want to buy a battery charger, but there seems to be 2 kinds: automatic and manual. What is the difference? How do they work? Do you need to plug them into an electical socket? Where do they get THEIR power from? How long does it take to charge a battery from one of those things, anyway? Anyone with mechanical expertise, I could really use your help here, 'cause I am automotively illiterate!

Answer:
Portable jumpstart may be all you need. But if you want a charger most have the option of manual or automatic....automatic , you can just turn it on go to bed and it will slowly charge your battery and should shut off when your battery is charged....manual it will not shut off and can make your battery boil over if left for too long but you have the option to change the charge settings so it will charge faster or you can set it to boost your vehicle off.

Question : I want to buy a car battery charger for my ice cream truck. Do you know how long the charge takes?
I bought an inverter for the chest freezer in my ice cream truck. The battery didn't stay charged more than 4 hours. I need to buy a car battery charger and another battery to keep it charged up. I was looking at a 2/6/10 amp charger. About how long would it take to charge one battery? I want a quick cheap one.

Answer:
an automotive cranking battery won't last 6 months in a deepcycle application - get the biggest heaviest deep cycle batteries you can afford. you want to charge your batteries at a starting current that is no greater than 25% of the RC (reserve capacity) rating, or 10% of the AH (amp-hour) rating of the battery. get a charger that automatically shifts into "float charge" or "maintain mode" when it's finished charging. this is *not* the same as a "trickle charge".

Question : how do you read the meter on a 6 amp car battery charger? the numbers go from 0-8 on the charger.?
when you connect a car battery to your charger how long do you leave it on? and how do you read the meter?

Answer:
Post a little more info about your charger. Some turn off automatically Some have timers or both. If your charger is putting out 6 amps. I'd say 3 or 4 hours for a 12v batt. Just a guess though. Allso depends on how drained your battery is. Slow charge is better. If you can set it to 2 amp hrs, 8 hours would be about right.

Question : What is the best car battery charger to get?
I have an old Sears 2/10 amp battery charger that is real old and in need of replacing. I cooked a lawn mower battery the other day because I left the charger on it too long, and figure it's time for one of the newer models that monitor the charge rate and taper off slowly and stop completely when it's fully charged. So what is the best type to get? I've read bad things about the Vector's, their clamps supposedly break easily. What else should I be looking at?

Answer:
This answer comes from an expert in both the automotive battery field and also the automotive charger field as well. I realize many people answering will have their own opinions and guesses, as I've seen some wild guesses already. One thing you should know here is that you don't have to spent over $50 for a GREAT BATTERY CHARGER! Reason I say this is because my original SCHUMACHER FULLY AUTOMATIC ANALOG model battery charger model # SE-520MA is going on over 9 years old now after charging hundreds of my personal AGM batteries, and still works as good as DAY ONE! Great analog charger which I bought at WALMART for roughly $43 + tax. Not bad at all considering DACOR DIVE CO wanted to charge me $180 for a 3-amp (hopefully fully automatic) charger in which to keep my DPV underwater dive vehicle AGM batteries fully charged. OUCH! After testing that SE-520MA charger to factory AGM battery specs, it worked so perfectly as to the CYCLIC charging rate. PERFECT right on the money voltage wise! Still is today! Great charger! Both 2 amp & 10 amp rates plus a 3-way selector switch for all 3 types of batteries. One position for FLOODED LEAD ACID batts on MANUAL mode, one position for FULLY AUTO mode AGM & GEL CELL batts, and one more position for FULLY AUTO mode DEEP CYCLE batts. My original AGM type YUASA DPV scooter batteries are still factory fresh strong after some 9 years of use, so it pays to use a GREAT charger!! Fully automatic battery chargers are the only way to go if you want your batteries to last over many charge cycles! Henry, who is now retired from SCHUMACHER, was terrific in going over the SE-520MA charger specs with me to assure me it would match my battery needs perfectly! Great engineer and can't say enough about him. He will be missed! Steve, who now has taken over his place, is very knowledgeable also and knows the product line very well. We talk quite regularly on battery charger applications. I helped field test the newest SC-1200A mentioned below as to the computer ALGORITHM TWEAKS So when SCHUMACHER was coming out with the newest (revamped second generation models) FULLY AUTOMATIC SPEED CHARGE series I had to have one of the SC-1200A models to test. I was so pleased with the computer ALGORITHM that I only had a few minor inputs as to the ALGORITHM TWEAKS. Other then that it was almost a mirror image of my SE-520MA analog charger. Only better and computerized! It has 3 selectable rates at 2-8-12 amps respectively. It has 3 types of batt selection as to FLOODED LEAD ACID, DEEP CYCLE, or AGM & GEL CELL. One other great feature of the SC-1200A is that it checks the batt for any signs of early SULFACATION and runs it through a DESULFATION mode if the batt is questionable. If the batt truly is bad it will fail it and end the charge test. I purposely tried a known bad AGM battery on it and it sure does work great! No other charger out there that I'm aware of has this feature! I would also recommend first fully charging any/the intended battery, to be stored or FLOAT MAINT CHARGED, with a home/auto FULLY AUTOMATIC TYPE CHARGER similar to say a SCHUMACHER model# SE-520MA, or their newer SC-1200A FULLY AUTOMATIC SPEED CHARGE computerized switching type model. The WALMART model # is WM-1200A and cost is roughly $42 + tax. These are my 2 personal choices, which I use everyday to charge all my AGM type 12-volt batts that I use in my under-h2o diving equipment and AGM type batts I use for all my computer UPS units as well. They both work flawless and to perfect battery specs I might add. I also use both chargers as well on all my other car/motorcycle type flooded lead acid batts because they are FULLY AUTOMATIC selectable type chargers for under $50. WALMART, SEARS, and others sell the same or similar model # as well, as they are all made under the SCHUMACHER name. Price will be the cheapest no doubt at WALMART, as I seen it around $42 + tax. I hope this helps everyone out to make a good choice when buying a great long term charger! Thx for your time!

Question : Car I charge a car battery with a charger when it is still connected to my car?
OK I know this is a dumb question but I am totally clueless when it comes to cars!! My battery is flat - I cannot get it to start with jumps leads so the only option is to charge it with a battery charger which I have. Now, I cannot take the battery out so is it possible to charge the battery without disconnecting it from the car? Thanks in advance!

Answer:
yea, red is positive, black is negitive just hook er up and let er rip, once the car starts unhook it and let the car run for like ten minutes and the alternater should charge the battery (alternater is a generator that uses the engines power to run electricity through your car), which is why your cars battery never dies while your driving

Question : Can a car battery charger be used for direct power supply?
Can a car battery charger provides the same or higher amount of current as the car battery does? If yes, then can we use it as a direct source to supply current in home instead of using a battery? I have tried a 5Amps. Car battery eliminator but current is far less. Please sujjest

Answer:
The answer is NO on both counts. Battery chargers are unregulated. When nothing is connected, the voltage can go as high as 16 volts. Also, the output is unfiltered. It's an AC chopped in two, not a smooth DC that one normally associate with DC. In some models, if you lightly load the charger, it will shutoff as it thinks charging is almost done. No, it cannot provide as much amperage as the battery. Most of them charge at 10% rate, meaning if the battery was 60AH (which is capable of dispensing as much as 750 amps in short bursts) are charged at 6amp for 10 hours.

Question : How long does a car battery charger take to fully charge a battery?
My car broke down on me again and we’ve been charging the battery on an external charger for a couple of hours now so we can see if it was the battery or my alternator. I was just wondering if that’s typical or not for the charge to take so long.

Answer:
depending on type of charger it could take several hours to overnight
